BOOZY POPSICLES INGREDIENTS

You will need:

  • 4 cups watermelon, cubed, yields approximately 2 cups watermelon juice
  • ½ cup lemonade
  • ½ cup watermelon vodka
  • Frozip 125 Disposable Ice Popsicle Mold Bags.

SUBSTITUTIONS AND ADDITIONS

JUICE: Instead of making fresh watermelon juice, you can pick up a container ready to drink at the store. Just make sure there is no added sugar!

SUGAR: Try a sip of the watermelon juice before making your frozen ice pop recipe. If it’s not sweet enough, add sugar a tablespoon at a time until it’s right for your taste.

MINT: Mint is a perfect complement to watermelon. Add a couple of mint leaves to your blender for a subtle hint of mint in your frozen treat.

FRUIT: These freezer pops could be made with almost any fruit flavor you like. Whichever flavor you choose, just mix your fresh fruit purees with a similar flavored vodka and lemonade. You could also mix two different flavors of this perfect refresher. Pour the first flavor into the freezer bag and allow it to freeze. Then add the other flavor as a second layer on top of the first.

HOW TO MAKE THIS BOOZY POPSICLES RECIPE

PRO TIP: If you are creating a variation with different fruit flavors, the only detail you need to pay attention to is the ratio of alcohol to juice. Because alcohol has a lower freezing point than regular ingredients, make sure that your ratio follows the rule of thumb that for every 4 ounces of juice, you want 1 ounce of liquor.

STEP ONE: Put all ingredients in a blender and blend for 30 seconds or until smooth.

PRO TIP: You do not need to strain your watermelon juice, but I would suggest mixing it before pouring it into the popsicle molds.

STEP TWO: Use a funnel to pour the watermelon juice into the freezer bags.

PRO TIP: The easiest way to pour the liquid into the freezer bags is to sit it in a tall cup which will free both hands for holding the funnel and pouring.

STEP THREE: Lay flat on a cookie sheet and freeze for 24 hours before serving.

PRO TIP: Because alcohol has a lower freezing point, you need extra time for the ice pops to freeze than if you were making regular popsicles.

PRO TIP: If you can’t get the freezer bags, this recipe would also work well to make adult popsicles on a stick. Pour your blended mixture into an ice pop mold and add popsicle sticks before popping them in the freezer. The freezing time for this variation on alcoholic popsicles will be similar to the freezie form.

HOW TO SERVE
