MANGO MOJITO INGREDIENTS

You will need:

  • 8 fresh mint leaves, plus more for garnish
  • ​​1.5 ounces of gin
  • ​​1 ounce of simple syrup
  • ​​1 ounce of mango juice
  • ​​6-8 frozen mango chunks
  • ​​Ice cubes

PRO TIP: If you can’t find frozen mango chunks in your local grocery stores, you can pick up fresh ripe mangos and cut them up yourself into chunks and store them in the freezer so you can enjoy this amazing drink all year long.

SUBSTITUTIONS AND ADDITIONS

Since this easy favorite is homemade, you can also experiment with other mix-ins. I have friends who like their mojitos spicy and served with basil.

FRUIT: You could also blend in pineapple, coconut, or peach along with or instead of the mango.

JUICE: Just like adding other frozen fruit to your delicious drink, you can also either completely replace or mix together different juice flavors. Try pineapple juice or passion fruit juice for a couple of options.

ALCOHOL: A traditional mojito uses white rum for the alcohol. If you prefer that to gin in this classic drink, you are welcome to substitute it.

NON-ALCOHOLIC: You could easily make this a virgin mojito by leaving out the gin from this recipe.

SODA: A classic mojito uses club soda for a bit of fizz in the drink. If you prefer your mango mojito a bit fizzy, then you can certainly add club soda or soda water as well.

MANGO JUICE: If you have an abundance of mangos, instead of using store-bought mango juice, you could use fresh mango puree. Just blend it up in the blender or food processor until it is smooth.

HOW TO MAKE THIS MANGO MOJITO RECIPE

PRO TIP: You can easily double or half this recipe according to how many people you are serving.

STEP ONE: Place mint leaves in the bottom of a cocktail shaker. Gently muddle to release the flavor.

PRO TIP: Muddling is a technique to gently mash herbs or fruit to release their juices. This helps the flavors to bind with the alcohol better than simply using them whole. You can use a cocktail muddler or a wooden spoon to make the muddled mint.

​​STEP TWO: Pour gin, simple syrup, and mango into the shaker.

STEP THREE: Top with ice cubes and shake well.

STEP FOUR: Place frozen mango chunks in the bottom of the glass.

STEP FIVE: Pour drink from the shaker over frozen mango chunks and garnish the rim of the glass with a sprig of mint and a slice of mango or lime wedge.

STEP SIX: Serve immediately!

HOW TO SERVE

You could also serve this refreshing drink frozen as well — just combine the ingredients and blend before serving. It will make a beautiful puree. After it’s blended, pour into glasses and top with mint before serving. It is the perfect way to serve this drink on a hot day.

STORAGE

IN THE FRIDGE: This refreshing cocktail is best served immediately and will not keep in the fridge. You can, however, make a batch of the simple sugar syrup and it will keep in the fridge for several weeks.
