BAE Systems has completed its previously announced acquisition of US-based software company Bohemia Interactive Simulations (BISim).

The $200m deal closed nearly four months after BAE Systems signed a defini t ive agreement to acquire the Orlando, Florida-headquartered firm.

As a software company, BISim specialises in software development for military simulation training solutions. BISim simulation products have been used by all branches of the US military, and by more than 60 countries.

The acquisition will add BISim’s software development capabilities, and advanced military simulation and training solutions, to BAE Systems’ digital transformation portfolio.

According to BAE Systems, the deal will also strengthen its position to address the US National Defence Strategy priority to support joint all domain operations.

BAE Systems president and CEO Tom Arseneault said: “The addition of BISim to the BAE Systems team expands our modelling and simulation capabilities, and solidifies our systems integration strategy.

“With this acquisition, we are even better positioned to meet our customers’ evolving needs in the rapidly growing market for global military training, and deliver next-generation virtual systems to help our US military and its allies effectively prepare for future scenarios.”

As agreed, BISim will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of BAE Systems.

The deal builds on an existing collaboration that began when the two companies started working together in 2019 on the US Marine Corps War Gaming and Analysis Centre contract.
